Description

    Fully Framed T43 $2 1862.
The central vignette portrays the South striking down the Union. The portrait is of Judah P. Benjamin who was a noted Jewish lawyer as well as a statesman. He served the Confederacy as Secretary of War and later Secretary of State. The "2 TWO" green overprint was the idea of printer B. Duncan. This issue was short-lived as the Confederate government refused to pay for the added expense. This is an attractive Second Series example. PCGS Very Fine 20, with a deserving premium for having a full frame line visible on all sides.
