E.M. Hughes was a Chester, Connecticut manufacturer and dealer in Hughes' Extract of Witch Hazel. This advertising note proclaims, "On demand we promise to pay to any consumer of Hughes' Witch Hazel, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars if found inferior in strength and quality by any first-class chemist." Very few advertisers used the facsimile T41 Confederate design for their notes. Fine, missing upper left corner, small internal tear, and an approximate three-eighths of an inch bottom edge tear.
