Description

Counterfeit $100 1862, CT-41/315A. This is a two color lithographic plate letter Z counterfeit that has circulated as authentic. One diagnostic of this counterfeit is that the highest bird in the central vignette is much more distinct than on genuine notes of this type. This example has written signatures and date, while the serial numbers are written in red ink. Note also has the issue stamp from Jackson, MS on back of note. Rarity 8, estimated 16 - 25 to exist, see Counterfeit Currency of the Confederate States of America, by George R. Tremmel. Very Fine.
