    Description

    T5 $100 1861 PF-1 Cr. 5.
Utilizing pre-war vignettes, Southern Bank Note Co. (the New Orleans branch of the ABNCo) turned out 5798 of these notes. Because of resource limitations, the time required to produce these notes was painfully slow, and other firms were brought in by the Department of Treasury to meet demand. PMG grades this example Uncirculated 62, citing "Foreign Substance" and "Ink Burn." There is a tiny spot of ink erosion in Tyler's signature, but your cataloger is hard pressed to find any significant instance of a foreign substance through the holder.
