Description

T10 $10 1861 PF-13 Cr. 35 PMG Very Fine 30 Net.
This $10 was part of the first emission to be printed by Hoyer & Ludwig. Just under 171,000 notes were issued between July 25 and November 2, 1861. The note features a vignette of Liberty seated by an eagle and a shield depicting the Confederate national flag, with a vignette of Hope at left. This variety has only a partial for printed before Treasr, a large 10 counter at upper left, and is printed on thick bond paper. PMG mentions a restoration that is a rather skillfully sealed tear that runs from the top edge down through the second "E" in CONFEDERATE, and then to the second "L" in DOLLARS.
