    Description

Virginia October 7, 1776 $15 PMG Very Good 10 Net.
Ever thus to tyrants, SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS is misspelled as TYRANNUS on the $4 and higher denominations from this issue. This was the highest denomination for the issue. Purdie, born and trained as a printer in Scotland, worked in Williamsburg after Joseph Royle's death. Purdie also served as postmaster. He died of dropsy in 1779. B. Dickson and James Wray signed this note. The fact that the center split has been repaired was cited as the reason for the net grade. The repair was nicely performed.
