Rare £10 James River Bank Form

Virginia September 1, 1775 £10 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
An extremely rare denomination which is one of only a couple that we have sold, with the other coming back in 2009. Missing from the massive Midnight Ride collection, it has some edge splits, repairs, and tears, none of which are major in scope. Signed by Treasurer Robert Carter Nicholas, a lawyer and political figure who served in the Virginia House of Burgesses and the General Assembly. He as also a Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia for almost three years until his death in 1780. The only other such example we sold was a fairly tattered Fine that realized $575 back in 2009. According to PCGS' Population Report, the 10 Pound note is five times scarcer than the commonly seen 12 Pound variety.
