Virginia October 16, 1780 (For Clothing the Army) $300 PCGS Apparent Fine 15.
Every example of this note at both services has been Net or Apparent graded as they were printed on extremely weak paper. We have sold only two notes previously, a PCGS 25 Apparent for $2700 and an Apparent VG 5 years ago for about $500. Those are the only two "For Clothing the Army" Virginia notes that we have ever sold. This piece certainly has some problems, all of which have been repaired. It's well margined with all its text legible and unrepaired including the important clause "An Act For the more effectual and speedy clothing the Army."
