    Description

Virginia May 4, 1778 (Dates Printed) $7 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
In our experience, this is a much tougher note than what is suggested in the established price guides. This is only the second example that we have been able to auction of the thin laid paper variety of this denomination. Thin laid paper exhibits the wire pattern used in the paper-making process. The Apparent grade has been assigned for "Small Edge Splits, Tears, and Repairs." The highest grade reported by PMG is a 25. This note does not appear on the PCGS census because of the Apparent grade, but we believe it to be the finest graded.
