Essentially Perfect $3 Virginia Guaranteed Note

Virginia May 1, 1780 $3 PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
This note has certainly earned its high 66 grade with wonderful margins, strong signatures, sharp print quality, and not a hint of a problem. It is fully executed with two signatures on the face and the guaranty for the United States on the back signed by Forster Webb. The PMG holder indicates this piece is Ex. Ford. It is tied as finest known with one 66 having been seen by each service with, of course, nothing higher. This is the second time we have auctioned this note. The first was at our FUN January 2015 sale where it realized $5405. That number will certainly be right in the range of what it will bring this evening.
