Virginia July 17, 1775 20s Very Fine. This is the much rarer Large Format variety of this issue, and it's one of the nicer examples we've seen. With their overly large size (5"x6 1/2") and their extremely thin paper, few examples have survived as anything other than tatters. This piece is fully intact, and it is problem free save for some edge splits, several of which have stamp hinges on their backs, and very minor body holes. The signatures, Virginia coat of arms, and all of the text - both handwritten and printed - are sharp and clean. No uncirculated examples of these Large Format notes are known to us, and we suspect this piece numbers in the top ten for condition. An important note that should not be overlooked by this colony's many serious collectors.
