Virginia April 1, 1773 £12 PMG Choice Very Fine 35 Net.
Only 600 notes were printed for the £12 denomination, and this rare piece is listed at $3,500 in the fifth edition of Newman in VF, with no higher grade indicated. PMG has graded only two examples with the current offering being by far the nicer of the two. We also see that PCGS has graded a mere single specimen. Tonight's note is a wonderful combination of rarity and extraordinarily high quality, as these notes are almost universally found in tatters when they are found at all. PMG has noted a repair, but we are unable to locate it on this seemingly gorgeous VF-XF James River Bank form.
