Two Red and Black Pennsylvania April 10, 1777 Notes - 3s PCGS Extremely Fine 40 & 40s PCGS Extremely Fine 45.
The 3s is attractive in an average note sort of way, with a good signature, very bright color and a reasonably sharp farming vignette on the back. The 40s is a real honey, with huge margins on three sides, two bold signatures, including the oft-faded red signature, and a spectacular overall appearance. The farm scene, which on this denomination is in black, is razor sharp to the point of individual rails on the rail fence plainly visible. You are buying the 40s and getting the 3s with it. Back in 2009, we sold an uncirculated 40s for $1,265. While technically far higher grade, the visual appearance of this note is way better.
