    Description

Tied for Top Pop North Carolina December, 1771 £1 PMG Superb Gem Unc 68 EPQ.
Simply an astounding example of this one pound note that is printed on bright paper, contains four boldly executed signatures with wonderful plate impression visible from the back. The margins are about as broad as it gets and the centering picture perfect. While 67PQ examples of this issue are about as common as dirt in an anthill, notes rarely reach the 68PQ plateau, particularly at PMG. Tied with one other atop the mountain for this entire issue out of almost 300 notes graded. Virtually anytime these are sold they realize a four-figure price with the other most recent result we show a PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ that sold for $1,880 last year.
