    Three Counterfeit Detector Notes - Continental Currency November 29, 1775 $1 PMG Uncirculated 62, November 29, 1775 $5 PCGS Very Choice New 64 & May 9, 1776 $3 PCGS Apparent Choice About New 55.
Three high-grade counterfeit detector notes. These detectors were printed for distribution to local banks and merchants so they could compare presented bills to these detectors to determine genuineness. The detectors were printed on paper with a light blue cast to prevent unscrupulous merchants from falsely filling them in and placing them into circulation. As the blue color was not particularly bold, we occasionally do see such falsely filled in notes that have circulated. The $3 is noted apparent for a small edge split near the upper left corner. (Total: 3 notes)
