All Georgia fiscal paper is rare, and this certificate is classified as Rarity-8 (1-3 known) in the Anderson-Smythe catalog. A simple, partly printed form on laid paper. 16.5 cm by 10.5 cm. Fully accomplished and dated from Augusta, Georgia. No. 101. Issued to John Smith to be paid from "purchases ... of confiscated property. Signed by the auditor. There are no back endorsements. The act is not specified, and the certificates were issued for several years after the Revolutionary War. The Anderson-Smythe plate note is dated 1785 and has a different auditor's signature. Grading notes "Edge and Internal Splits," but the assigned grade here is conservative. A vibrant example with excellent paper body exhibiting much original text embossing to the blank back.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
