    Description

South Carolina May 1, 1775 £20 Private Citizens Promissory Note PMG Fine 12.
This was part of an individual promissory note issue of several private individuals made before the formation of the Provincial Congress to finance war expenditures. Newman believes that these were apparently ultimately the responsibility of the Province. The large format note has an elaborately engraved back. The note is pen cancelled (apparently when redeemed) and has minimal edge roughness but no repairs or major problems.

    Estimate: $1,000 - up.
