South Carolina March 6, 1776 £15 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
The four highest denominations ( £15, £25, £50, and £100) were printed on laid paper using a large format. Elaborate borders create a beautiful frame for the text of this bluish tint example. The circular emblem at lower right certainly explains the relations of the times between the Colonies and the Mother Country as an American rattlesnake attacks and bites the British lion. Encircling this scene is the Latin motto, "MAGNIS INTERDUM PARVA NOCENT," which translates to "sometimes small things do harm to big ones." This prophecy would come true later after the surrender of the British at Yorktown on October 19, 1781. Some problems are noted on the holder.
