Exceptional June 10, 1775 South CarolinaSouth Carolina June 10, 1775 £50 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
One of very few notes of this issue and denomination that we have ever handled. It bears six signatures, every one of which is dark and legible. The note is partially printed and partially executed in pen. It is made out in pen as payable to "the Church Wardens of St. Philip's Parish." Although the Apparent grade has been assigned for a number of different problems, none of them is meaningful, and it has the appearance of a solid Very Fine. Extremely rare and without a doubt one of the best known examples of the issue. Stack's sold two of these in May of 2004. A Very Good realized $2,185, and a Fine brought $4,025. This piece is incredible quality for this single-denomination issue, which is unpriced in both Newman and Friedberg.
