South Carolina June 1, 1775 £20 PMG Very Good 10 Net. The clasped hands emblem and FIDES PUBLICA (Public trust) motto remain clear and distinct on this well-signed note that has the appearance of a higher grade. Tape repairs were listed by PMG as the reason for the net grade. A few small pieces of hinge tape were used on the back to reinforce splits at the margins. The tape only obscures a miniscule portion of the "FOR THE PUBLICK GOOD" design on the back that was engraved by James Oliphant. Portions of a watermark are visible. The signers of this piece were Thomas Savage, John Canard, Thomas Corbett, Peter Bacot, John Neufville, and William Gibbes. These notes are priced at $600 in VG in the latest edition of Newman's reference.
