    Description

South Carolina December 23, 1776 $5 PCGS Choice New 63PPQ. A Remainder note signed by Wakefield only and unnumbered. The rearing-horse vignette is particularly sharp. It's surrounded by the clearly printed Latin motto "DOMINUM GENEROSA RECUSAT," which Newman translates as follows, "The well born refuses a master." This type is much more common as a Remainder than as a signed and circulated note, but this Remainder is an unusually nice one, with every detail, including the Hebrew characters on the back, bold and sharp.
