South Carolina April 10, 1778 7s/6d About New. An absolutely stunning example of this strikingly rare denomination. The notes from the first sheet are the ones that are always seen in the marketplace and in high grade. The second sheet contained the 7s/6d, 15s, 20s and 30s denominations, of which the 7s/6d is second in scarcity to only the 30s note. This example is very well margined on all sides with the plate impression visible at the bottom and only a lower corner fold keeping the New grade out of reach. The outline of an old water stain is seen over the top half of the note. Two bold signatures remain as well as the Beehive vignette. The Newman 5th edition points out that a similarly graded note realized almost $2,000 in one of the Ford sales.
