South Carolina April 10, 1778 5s PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.This is the first Gem example of this number that we have offered since our 2011 Long Beach auction, where a Gem one point higher realized $1,495. This note is a real beauty with excellent centering and PMG's Exceptional Paper Quality comment. A magnificent example of this popular note with its vignette of a phoenix rising from the flames (or a bird falling into a fire, depending on your point of view).
