    South Carolina April 10, 1778 5s PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
    This is the first Gem example of this number that we have offered since our 2011 Long Beach auction, where a Gem one point higher realized $1,495. This note is a real beauty with excellent centering and PMG's Exceptional Paper Quality comment. A magnificent example of this popular note with its vignette of a phoenix rising from the flames (or a bird falling into a fire, depending on your point of view).
