    Description

South Carolina Promissory Note April-May 1775 £20 Very Fine, pen cancelled.
This rare note, that has split into four pieces, has the folds of a VF. Moisture staining and edge wear are observed, too. It is signed by Henry Middleton, who served as the second presiding officer of the Continental Congress for a brief period in 1774. He left the Continental Congress before independence was declared. He next served in the South Carolina state government. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
