    Description

South Carolina November 15, 1775 £3 PMG Choice Fine 15.
We have rarely been able to offer these notes. The all-important cannon vignette remains attractive on this note from the highest denomination of the issue. The Latin phrase, Ultima Ratio translates to "the final reckoning." The signatures of Joseph Verree (listed in the Newman reference as Vivree) and G.A. Hall remain clearly visible. Verree was a master carpenter in Charleston and was connected to several groups during the American Revolution. Among other roles, he served in both the First and Second Provincial Congress of South Carolina.
