    Finest Graded by 15 Points - PCGS 40PPQ March 6, 1776 £1 15s

South Carolina March 6, 1776 £1/15s PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ.
The finest graded at either service by a full 15 points. Both services combined have seen a total of four with this 40 on top, two 25's, and a Good 6. It was previously from the Ford-Boyd collection where it realized over $3000 nine years ago. Although not noted on the holder, the lot tag from that sale is enclosed. Friedberg values the note at $3000 in VF and simply notes "Rare" for XF. Similarly Newman prices it at $3500 in VF with nothing higher. One of the best South Carolina notes of this era that we have ever handled and likely to double its decade old auction record.
