    High-Grade March 6, 1776 50 Pounds Note

South Carolina March 6, 1776 50 Pounds Fr. SC-127 PCGS Extremely Fine 45.
The second highest denomination and printed on laid paper. Like the June 1, 1775, 50 pounds in this sale, this also has an intricately printed back embellished with calligraphic flourishes. At the lower right on the face is an emblem showing trophies of war and the motto ANIMAS OPIBUSQUE PARATI (Prepared in spirit and resources). The intricately designed back has the motto DEUS PUGNAVIT ET DISSIPANTUR (God has fought and the opposition was dispersed). Strictly unimpaired representatives of this type are nearly impossible to obtain. This is one of the most appealing examples we have seen. There is a back ink notation that shows to the face upper right corner, otherwise the paper quality and eye appeal are excellent.
    From the Hunter Collection.
