    Description

    Pleasing June 1, 1775 5 Pounds

South Carolina June 1, 1775 5 Pounds Fr. SC-98. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.
The lowest denomination from this Provincial Congress authorized series is printed uniface on laid paper, and in a larger format than used for many Colonial series. At the lower right is a splay of 12 arrows representing the 12 United Colonies and the motto AUSPICIUM SALUTIS (An auspice of well-being). A boldly printed note with five signatures. This example is in above average condition for a series notorious for very rough or damaged notes. Noted with "Minor Splits and Tears." This is quite pleasing and superior to most known examples.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
