    Description

Scarce May 3, 1775 Rhode Island Colonial

Rhode Island May 3, 1775 6d PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
The only other 6 pence note that we have sold was a VG with lots of problems that realized over $100 back in 2004. Only 4,000 notes of this denomination were originally printed for this rare and seldom-seen issue. The entire issue is valued at $2250 in Very Fine in Newman. PCGS notes splits, repairs, minor stains, none of which have much bearing on the quality of this piece. A solid VF in terms of detail which is an exceptional grade indeed for these 1770s Rhode Island notes. In September we sold a 1 shilling note, in PCGS Apparent Fine 12, for $211.50.
