Promissory Notes, Primarily Handwritten, and Assorted Documents from Numerous States. Sixty Two Pieces dated from the 1700's and 1800's.
This lot contains a variety of promissory notes and other documents, many handwritten, that are housed in a binder. Our consignor spent many years compiling this collection and his interest in the material is clearly evident. One piece, arguably the most interesting in the grouping, from N. Milford, CT, is dated Nov. 9, 1778 and involves granting linen stockings and trousers out of the State Store during the Revolutionary War. It was signed by Lieutenant J. Willcox. Please note that the issuing locations and RM numbers were attributed by the consignor and have not been confirmed. Our estimate on this lot is quite conservative and will likely be exceeded by a considerable margin. Lot viewing is strongly encouraged. Grades are not being assigned to this material and there will be no returns on this lot for any reason. (Total: 62 items)
