Pennsylvania October 1, 1773 10s Gem New. This unusually nice Colonial consignment was put together by a gentleman who had a real eye for quality. This common issue typifies the way this gentleman collected. The note is unusually attractive. Our consignor sought out the best he could find, not just in technical grade, but also visual appeal. This note has three bold, clear signatures, unusually nice centering of both sides and a farm-scene vignette on the back that's clean and sharp. This cataloger has always been particularly fond of this farm vignette. The craftsman, using simple lines hand-engraved in metal has captured the essence of a summer afternoon on a mid-1700's farm. The sun, thundercloud, approaching shower and rainbow are executed with simultaneous simplicity and mastery. This is way too much to say about this note, but it's the design type that first attracted this cataloger to Colonial Currency nearly 40 years ago. And this is such a very nice example. Est. 300up
