DescriptionPennsylvania May 20, 1758 20s PMG About Uncirculated 50.
A well preserved note "Printed by Ben Franklin" and "Signed by Charles Thomson" as noted on the PMG holder. Thomson was the Secretary of the Continental Congress and served in that role for the entire fifteen years of its existence. He was the person who notified Washington that he had been nominated for the presidency. PMG has graded a mere six examples of this note. The other five notes graded VF20 and below, making this note the highest grade by a full thirty points. Notes of this era are simply not found this nice as serious Colonial collectors are well aware. The Newman reference does not price this note higher than VF, where it is valued at $2000. This PMG AU50 should certainly far exceed that number.
