DescriptionPennsylvania May 20, 1758 15s PCGS About New 53PPQ.
This is by far the sole finest graded example of this vertical format B. Franklin and D. Hall imprint note by either service with nothing else above the Extremely Fine level. As discussed in Eric P. Newman's four-part 1964 Numismatist article, "Nature Printing on Colonial and Continental Currency," denominations appear within some nature prints on Pennsylvania Colonial currency. On the present example, the "XV" has been placed perpendicularly at left in the vignette. This additional device would have served as a deterrent to altering the note in order to raise the denomination. This example has only a light horizontal fold and minor handling with no problems whatsoever. An excellent Franklin and Hall type note.
