Description

Pennsylvania May 1, 1760 5s. In all of CAA's sales, we've had only 20 examples from this May 1, 1760 issue, and all of those were from the four highest denominations. This is the first example we've handled from this issue under 15s. The note grades essentially Very Fine, although it has split along its vertical center fold and has been sewn back together contemporarily with homespun thread. All the text is clear on both sides, including the Ben Franklin imprint on the back, and all three signatures are bold and legible. An important early Pennsylvania, sure to be in demand by this state's collectors.
