    Description

Pennsylvania March 25, 1775 14s PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. A beautifully printed example, plate letter A is observed on this fourteen shillings note. Only one note has received a higher grade from PMG. These notes were issued for the construction of the Cape Henlopen Lighthouse and related structures. The lighthouse was needed to guide ships into Delaware Bay safely. The lighthouse was abandoned in 1924 and collapsed on April 13, 1926. The appealing design on the back includes a cast cut of a lighthouse. This very attractive example was signed by Ezekiel Edwards, James Wharton, and Richard Vaux. This note will be a lovely addition to the winning bidder's collection.
