    Description

    Pennsylvania March 20, 1771 20s PMG About Uncirculated 55.
Only £15,000 in notes were issued under the March 9, 1771 Act. They were issued for defense of the city of Philadelphia. The note here is the finest that we have handled, and the finest of ten that PMG has graded. A colorful piece with fresh, original paper and strong signatures. This note is tied for Top-Pop at PMG. PCGS has graded a single 58, but neither service has seen an Uncirculated example. Most unusually no area was left on this note for a serial number and the number was written over the design generally at the upper left. In April 2009 we sold this note for $920, a figure which should certainly be exceeded this evening.
