High-Grade Francis Hopkinson Signed NotePennsylvania March 20, 1771 20 Shillings Francis Hopkinson Signature Fr. PA-149. PCGS Choice About New 58 Apparent.
The signature of Francis Hopkinson, signer of the Declaration of Independence, appears on notes from this March 20, 1771 series. On this example, his nicely accomplished signature appears above the two others. Hopkinson notes are much scarcer than John Hart notes from New Jersey and John Morton notes from Pennsylvania. Plate A. The note is very bold, with vivid color Arms, crowns and top border. Noted is a "Small Rust Stain" that is at the bottom, far from the finely accomplished Hopkinson signature.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
