Francis Hopkinson Signed NotePennsylvania March 20, 1771 10 Shillings Francis Hopkinson Signature Fr. PA-147. PCGS Very Fine 35 Apparent.
The March 20, 1771 Pennsylvania series is an attractive one with red borders, arms and devices. The signature of Francis Hopkinson, signer of Declaration of Independence, appears on notes from this March 20, 1771 series. On this example, his nicely accomplished signature appears at the bottom. Hopkinson notes are much scarcer than John Hart notes from New Jersey and John Morton notes from Pennsylvania. Noted as having some "Minor Stains" by PCGS, but they appear in the top center, far from the signature. An excellent candidate for a Colonial note "Signers" set.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
