    Description

Pennsylvania March 16, 1785 15s PMG Very Fine 30. This is an attractive, nicely margined 15 shillings note and it is the highest graded example by PMG of this scarce, late-date issue. This example was signed by William Smith, William Tilton, and Francis Wade. Francis Bailey printed these notes on watermarked paper with "PENSYLVANIA" in two lines. Bailey started his printing business in Lancaster in 1771 and later that decade published a newspaper in Philadelphia.
