    Description

Pennsylvania March 1, 1769 £1/10s Contemporary Counterfeit PCGS Very Fine 20. This is our first offering of any type of one of these notes, whether genuine or not. This contemporary counterfeit has two "X" marks in black ink on the face and "counterfeit" has been written in black ink on the back. This issue was called for redemption due to the number of well executed counterfeits that were circulating. This denomination along with the £3 were counterfeited. Herman Rosencrantz was convicted of producing counterfeits of the £3 notes and he was executed on May 5, 1770 in Philadelphia as a result.

    Estimate: $1,350 - up.
