    Extremely Rare Pennsylvania Guaranteed Note

Pennsylvania June 1, 1780 $5 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
The ultimate for Top-Pop at both services. It is the only piece graded by either service. We are unable to locate a single Pennsylvania Guaranteed note in any denomination in our Archives. This piece is one of the outstanding rarities in this collection and a lovely grade on top of that. PMG pedigrees the note to the DuPont Collection. It has two excellent margins and two close margins and is fully signed both on the face as well as the guarantee on the back. An opportunity to acquire any Pennsylvania Guaranteed note occurs about once every twenty years. Newman prices these at $1,500 in VG and $5,000 in EF with no higher grade listed. Nearly impossible to estimate, but we would not be surprised with a realization exceeding $5,000.
