    Description

    Pennsylvania October 1, 1756 10s PCGS Apparent Good 06.
The Act of September 21, 1756 authorized £30,000 in legal tender bills that were good until October 1, 1766. Denominations included 5s, 10s, 15s. and 20s. 12,000 notes of each denomination were printed by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall. This note saw extended time in circulation with dirt and stains dimming some of the design elements. In order to extend its life, someone at the time this note was in circulation resorted to sewing the horizontal fold split to keep the two halves of the note attached. While some may see this as a negative, your cataloger believes that such contemporary rescue missions make the note more interesting and historic. To put this condition into perspective, every one of the graded notes that have been sold at public auction graded Apparent Good 6 . Ex. Eric P. Newman Collection.
