High Grade 9 Pence Benjamin Franklin Colonial

    Pennsylvania June 18, 1764 9d PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.
"PCGS does not maintain a Colonial Population Report, but our experience tells us that only the 3d and 20 shilling denominations from this issue are generally seen. A quick look at the PMG Population Report confirms this. They have seen nineteen 3d notes and nineteen 20 shilling notes, but only a single 9d. This is a rare note in all grades and particularly so at this level. The only other example we have handled was a raw VG. Newman values this note at $4,000 at this grade level, but that is the same valuation that is placed on the massively more common 3d note." This was our description when we sold this same note for $3,525 in our 2013 Central States sale. PCGS now does have a Pop Report and this note is tied with one other.
