    By Far the Highest Graded

Pennsylvania April 3, 1772 6d PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. We've handled five of these over the years, but the very nicest of them was a damaged EF. PMG has graded only two examples--this 66 EPQ and a Fine 12. The low denominations of this issue are rare in all grades and significantly so in high grade. The new Newman prices this note at $250 in VF with the higher grade columns blank. This 66 EPQ is very likely the finest example of this note in existence, and we would not be at all surprised if it remains permanently the only one to be graded at the Gem level. A highly important note.
