Rare April 25, 1776 Double Sheet

    Pennsylvania April 25, 1776 1s (4) -8d (4) -2s (4) -2s/6d (4) Double Sheet of Sixteen PCGS Apparent About New 53.
The only double sheet of these four denominations that we have ever auctioned. Our only other previous offering was in April 2009. The sheet is fully margined all the way out to its original deckled edges. The ubiquitous center fold between notes shows the normal two needle holes from sewing, and the minor edge splits in the selvage do not approach any of the notes. All sixteen notes are boldly signed and numbered and the sheet displays magnificently. Over the years we have seen only a few examples of this issue in sheet form and suspect that those have now been cut apart to take advantage of the "grading game." A rare, important, and very beautiful double sheet to add to one's collection.
