Pennsylvania April 10, 1777 40s Red and Black PMG About Uncirculated 53 Net.
Only about one-third as many Forty Shilling notes were printed as were printed of any other shilling-denomination of this issue. Additionally, the great majority of the fewer than 13,000 printed for this denomination were the All Black notes. A horizontal format note printed by John Dunlap, but with red borders and the Commonwealth seal on the face. The red notes are much scarcer than the black, especially at higher grade levels. PMG notes "Repaired" but we truthfully are not entirely sure to what they are referring. A superior example with behemoth margins and wondrous appeal.
