DescriptionTwo North Carolina December, 1771 Notes - £2 PCGS Apparent About New 53 & £5 PCGS About New 53PPQ.
These are the two most difficult notes from an issue in which lower denomination pieces are extremely common. Both notes are very well-margined and boldly signed. The five pound, which is the tougher of the pair, has earned the PPQ designation and has the blank back covered with the contemporary endorsements that collectors love. The two pound has had some small repairs mentioned by PCGS, although we are unable to locate them. It wouldn't have been too much of a stretch to run each of these singly. They were singles the last time we sold them four years ago and they individually realized $558 and $646. A lovely pair.
Estimate: $1,250 - up.
