Attractive and Rare November 21, 1757 5 Pounds

North Carolina November 21, 1757 5 Pounds Fr. NC-94b PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
Although identified by PCGS when previously sold as NC-83, this note is a November 21, 1757 issue and is Fr. NC-94b. Many five pound notes from the May 28, 1757 and November 21, 1757, issues have been misattributed as the much rarer NC-83 notes from the 1756-1757 (written dates) issue. This November 21, 1757, note is an example of the variety with the word "Payment" not hyphenated. These are also rare, and most notes were exchanged for subsequent issues when worn. Signed by Starkey and Barker. A number of endorsements are present on the back. As pleasing example an as we have encountered. "Restorations" are cited by grading, but these have strengthened the paper and enhanced its visual appeal. Ex: our 2016 Long Beach sale, lot 18062 (realized $2,350); The Tar Heel Collection, Part II. Attractive and rare.
