    North Carolina May 10, 1780 $500 Fr. NC-198 PMG Very Fine 30.
This is another underrated note. Only 500 were authorized with the "T" of THIS without an ornamental box. The type also has a lengthy Latin motto: "Divitae Reipublicae / dant mihi pretium" (The wealth of the republic gives me value). Printed by Davis on thin laid paper. In a comment-free holder and rare without splits. Mike handpicked this from Smythe & Co.'s inventory at the 2007 Memphis show. Certified for the first time, and it is one of the best we have seen.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
